Submit your film to BizarroLand!
We accept short (under 40 minutes) and feature (40 minutes or more) films. Also, new for 2026, we have the discounted SOV Nation category for movies that were originally shot on “lo-fi” tape formats (e.g., VHS, S-VHS, Hi8, MiniDV). If you have any questions, ask before submitting because ineligible submissions will be disqualified with no refund.
The Representation Discount
BizarroLand offers a 25% submission discount to any film directed by any filmmaker from a historically excluded community, including but not limited to filmmakers who identify as women, Black, Asian, Latino/Latina, Indigenous, trans, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or disabled filmmakers. Email stephen@demonskull.org to request the discount code.

BizarroLand accepts submissions through FilmFreeway, and we’re a Gold festival if you’re into that kind of thing.

Submission FAQs
“Can I get a waiver?”
Probably not. You can ask, but you’ll have to explain why you feel so certain that your movie is a good fit for BizarroLand. And you’ll have to explain it with your own words; you can’t just tell me to watch it myself. And if you use ChatGPT to write your request, you’ll never hear back from me.
“Can I get a discount?”
The only discount available is the Representation Discount (see the details above).
“Does my movie have to be a world premiere?”
BizarroLand has no premiere requirements at all. Even movies that are already streaming to the public are eligible for selection. The only thing is, when it’s time to make the final programming decisions, movies that have been seen by fewer audiences will naturally be more attractive.
“Does my movie need to have been made this year?”
BizarroLand has no completion-date requirements, either, but only movies completed within the most recent two calendar years (i.e., 2025–26 for the 2026 festival) will be eligible for juried awards (though all selected movies are eligible for audience awards). As with the premiere status, though, movies that are newer will be more attractive during programming.
